Each year in February, before their official concert season begins, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra play three-four FREE concerts in Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl. The SMMB has room for a good 10,000 people, and (so long as the weather’s good), the summer MSO concerts fill the Bowl. I keep meaning to go more often, and so far I’ve only been the once, and I must say, it was fantastic. It’s the MSO. It’s free (you usually can’t see the MSO for any less than about $50, $70 for most performances). So if you’re ever in Melbourne in Febraury, check out when the MSO are playing the Bowl, bring a picnic, watch the sun go down behind the city, and enjoy the show.
