This is in today’s (23 June) Sunday Herald Sun (on pg.3 of the Body and Soul lift-out):
“…vegetarians had a 12 per cent lower risk of dying compared to meat-eaters” and “…vegetarians were 19 per cent less likely to die than carnivores” are just about two of the silliest sentences I’ve read. For a start, the stats are different in each (is it 12 or 19%?), secondly, it read as though vegetarians are whatever per cent it’s supposed to be less-likely to die EVER. It just doesn’t make a lot of sense.
Poor writing + Poor editing = Unintentional humour.
PS: The Herald Sun and Sunday Herald Sun are the most-read newspapers in Victoria.
