And the winner of the Classic 100 is…

Ennio Morricone’s score for The Mission. I must admit to never having heard of the film, let alone seen it, but I do believe I recognise some of the music, and it is FANTASTIC.

The top ten of the ABC Classic FM Classic 100 Music at the Movies were:
10. Schindler’s List – Score composed by John Williams
9. The Piano – Score composed by Michael Nyman
8. Out of Africa – Score composed by John Barry
7. The King’s Speech – Piano Concerto No. 5 composed by Beethoven
6. Laurence of Arabia – Score composed by Maurice Jarre
5. Doctor Zhivago – Score composed by Maurice Jarre
4. Chariots of Fire – Score composed by Vangelis
3. Lord of the Rings – Score composed by Howard Shore
2. Star War – Score composed by John Williams
1. The Mission – Score composed by Ennio Morricone

Full information on the ABC Classic FM Classic 100 can be found here. Annoyingly, I can’t remember everything I voted for, but at least five of my ten votes made the Classic 100 (it was so hard to narrow my choices down to just ten!).

A brilliant weekend of music.
